Changes to Postmark’s pricing in 2023
We made some changes to Postmark’s pricing in 2023.
Starting January 3, 2023:
- Prices increased for new accounts that signed up for Postmark, and for those that upgraded from a free to a paid plan.
- Existing customers on subscription plans will see no changes to their 2023 invoices as long as they stay on their current plan. These plans became "legacy" plans on January 3, 2023.
- Existing customers on subscription plans who make changes (upgrades or downgrades) will see the new 2023 pricing apply to their invoices.
- The ability to purchase credits (and credits auto-renew) was disabled on July 5, 2023. There are more details in this support article.

Why we raised our prices
We hadn't made changes to our pricing since we introduced Postmark’s subscription plans in 2017. That was 5 years stuffed with lots of product improvements, exciting new features, and a track record of providing a service that customers frequently describe as rock solid, nothing but amazing, and the best choice ever—all while keeping our prices the same.
We’ve always been proud to be a healthy business and we want to ensure we stay that way, even as our costs rise. Maintaining a healthy, sustainable business means that we have the resources we need to invest in our team and keep making Postmark awesome. We designed our new pricing to be fair to our customers and competitive against alternative products, while at the same time setting our team up for long-term success.

What changed for existing subscription customers?
Nothing, as long as you stay on your existing Postmark monthly subscription plan. You’ll continue to be on our legacy pricing and your future invoices will look the same. If you make a change to your subscription after January 3, 2023, though—for example by upgrading or downgrading to a different Postmark plan—our new 2023 pricing will automatically apply. The same is true for new customers: If you signed up for a paid plan after January 3, you are on our new 2023 subscription pricing.
Credits purchasing (including auto-renew) was disabled on July 5, 2023
Before we introduced monthly subscription plans in 2017, Postmark customers could purchase email credits as a pay-as-you-go option. We kept credit-based billing in place for existing customers for many years. But maintaining two types of billing has turned into a major headache and time commitment for our team. Reducing this complexity means we’ll have more time to dedicate to the things we love: improving Postmark, building great new features, and providing excellent support whenever you need it. Frequently Asked Questions
How long can I stay on the legacy 2022 pricing?
Keep in mind that all plan upgrades and downgrades after January 3rd are on the new 2023 pricing. So if you've upgraded to a higher tier after January 3rd, the new pricing will apply to that upgrade.
What happens to the existing credits on my account when I switch?
Any existing credits you purchased before July 5 won’t go to waste: we’ll “buy those back” and apply the balance as an account credit. This happens automatically. You can see a preview of the account credit you'll receive on the "Plans & Add-ons" page in your account.
If you've had a Postmark account for a very long time, you might have signed up under a promotion that granted you free credits. It's not possible to sell free credits back to us and get an account credit. If you switch to a subscription, the free/promo credits are forfeited/lost. You can continue using those free credits until they run out and switch after that.

I only need a couple thousand emails a month, is there a smaller plan?
The 10,000 emails/month plan is our smallest paid plan. We worked on the new plans with the broadest range of customers in mind, and we know that even with our best attempts, we won't cover everyone and all cases.
